| CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN ELDER LAW GENERAL INFORMATION |
The Center for Excellence in Elder Law at Stetson College of Law was established in 1995 to meet the increasing need for legal education and research in the field of law and aging. The Center is dedicated to providing quality legal education to law students, attorneys, and judges in the field of elder and special needs law as well as producing scholarly research and writing on significant issues impacting people who are older and/or have special needs.The Center provides education to the student body at Stetson through a number of specialized courses; through research projects; continuing legal education; and more students who wish to "major" in elder law can enroll in the elder law concentration. Additionally, students can be members of the Stetson Elder Law Society. ELS sponsors several programs every semester on cutting edge topics. Attorneys and other aging professionals can take advantage of the Center's educational programs through the semi-annual continuing legal education programs. These programs, held in the fall and the spring, provide an inter-disciplinary learning opportunity for elder law attorneys and other aging professionals from a variety of experts in the field, including those speakers nationally known for their expertise. The Center is housed on the Stetson College of Law campus in St. Petersburg.
