The Certified County Court Mediator Training Clinic, offered to Stetson Law Students, combines a Florida Supreme Court Certified County Mediator Training program with law school classroom/clinical requirements. The training takes place over 3 full days early in the semester (usually covering two weekends), with subsequent county court observation and co-mediation requirements to be scheduled and met during the semester. Additionally, there is a higher level mediation observation as well as a follow-up class meeting later in the semester. This course (Law #4000) is available to those students who have successfully completed the ADR Course #3120. This clinic, if satisfactorily completed, provides the student with 3 credit hours. Generally, it is offered in the Spring and Fall semesters. All requirements must be fully met in order to achieve both, satisfactory academic completion and County Court Mediator Certification recognized by the Florida Supreme Court.
We will meet each day of the training from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm* except for the follow-up class later in the semester, which will be a ½ day meeting (usually in the morning)*. Continental breakfasts (beginning at 8:00 am), daily lunches, and afternoon refreshments are included in this intensive weekend program*. Students must be present for all portions of the program in order to receive certification and class credit.
*Program schedule varies slightly for the general Certified County Mediator Training offered to Community and Professionals outside of Stetson. (Click here/above for information on the Community / Professionals Certified County Mediator Training.)
