Professor Long joins Stetson this year after having taught legal research and writing for nine years at J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, and at the University of Oregon School of Law. Professor Long has practiced with the firms of Walstad & Babcock in Salt Lake City, Utah and Morrison & Foerster in Orange County, California. He is currently associated with the firm of Hill, Johnson & Schmutz in Provo, Utah. His practice is primarily focused on appellate and motion practice in the areas of intellectual property, contract, and construction law. Professor Long's current scholarship focuses on empirical analyses of language patterns in appellate briefs and opinions. His latest article, "Clearly Using Intensifiers Is Very Bad-Or Is It?," will be published this fall in the Idaho Law Review. Professor Long presented his research this summer at the 2008 Legal Writing Institute Conference.
