Photograph of Professor WatersI am originally from Bishopville, SC, and I received my degrees from the University of South Carolina: B.A. in journalism (1978); J.D. (1982); M.L.S. (1983).

Since coming to Stetson in 1982, I have served as the self-proclaimed "Queen of Reference" in the library. I have been an adjunct professor since 1983, teaching Research and Writing I and II, and Advanced Legal Research. I have spoken before several groups, including the National Association of Law Placement, the Southeastern Association of Law Libraries, and the Central Florida Association of Law Libraries, about legal research and using the Internet; and have taught a course on "Using the Internet in Law Practice" for Stetson's CLE office, and a class on internet research for librarians, for the Tampa bay Library Consortium.

My writings include "Now Showing at the Law Library: How to Start a Legal Video Collection", in Legal Reference Services Quarterly (10 L.R.S.Q. 29, 1990); many book reviews for Library Journal on true crime; and many reviews of books and audio books, on true crime, law and politics for library journal. On the Internet, I'm a frequent contributor to Stumpers, the mailing list for hard-to-answer reference questions.

I have four cats to whom I'm absurdly devoted, and one husband. My other interests are: movies (I started, and maintain, the legal movie collection at the law library), true crime, veterans' rights, and computer research (my computer skills attest to how well you can learn to use a mouse when a cat's sound asleep on the keyboard!) My basic philosophy of life was originally stated by a wise tiger named Hobbes:

"I think true happiness can be found only in the wanton indulgence of animals."
